Ever hear of Jeffrey Hunter?

Jeffrey Hunter played Captain Christopher Pike in the Star Trek pilot way back in 1965. He was replaced by William Shattner in the regular series though. Most people know little about him.

I think the following at IMDB.com explains it well. As you can see, 1969 was a horribly bad year for Hunter.
