Lumière Brothers

I went to a meeting of Quick Flicks. It's basically a club that encourages amateur to professional film makers to make a film every month. There's no dues and no obligation other than to bring a new film every month and bring some snacks.

While I think they're well intentioned, I don't know if this is for me.

The first film they want us all to do is a Lumière film. This is based on the first video camera made in 1895. The Lumière brothers invented the first well known video camera that could take exactly 52 seconds of film footage and the camera could not be moved while filming. They want us to take exactly a 52 second still shot of whatever I want.

I already make monthly podcasts and I see little how this will help me, so I'm probably going to pass on it. This is not to imply anything bad about this group of course.
